SILVER GELATIN PRINT
SELENIUM TONED
FRAMED 11" x 14"

Springs flowing under water carried streams of dissolved calcium into the sand at the bottom of Mono Lake where it solidified into calcium carbonate. When the lake level dropped and the sand eroded away, these formations were exposed. This image was made using a 4x5 wooden field camera and polarizer.
