ABOUT THE ARTIST

Susan Harlin is a fine art photographer, working solely in black & white, using traditional techniques and large format camera equipment, to product beautiful, hand-made, fine art black & white photographic images. A native Virginian, Susan moved to the Fort Worth area in 1987. In 1988, Susan became involved with a local camera club and soon found the enjoyment and creativity that only photography can bring. Susan enjoys traveling around the country doing landscape, architectural and environmental detail photography. she does all her own print work.

MY PHOTOGRAPHIC PHILOSOPHY

Susan started out with 35mm and moved to medium format. Once she discovered the world of large format, she could never go back. The detail that is achieved through only large format photography allows her to create the images that she wants.

"I believe that only the photographer can bring the print to life with all of the emotions that were involved in making the negative."

SUSAN'S COMMITMENT TO QUALITY

Photographic images by Susan Harlin are made using the highest quality materials available. Each photograph is hand-crafted in her own custom lab. Only the finest fiber base printing papers are used. Each photograph is selenium toned and archivally processed for maximum permanence. All mounts and mats are hand made from high quality 100% rag, 4-ply, museum-grade mat board for maximum long-term stability. Each photograph is hand mounted and each mat custom cut. This is a slow painstaking process that cannot be done hurriedly or in mass quantity. Susan creates quality gallery-grade photographic images, made one-at-a-time, in limited quantities, in the tradition of the true craftsman.
